 MA RESPITE CARE

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Respite Care Program, based in Danvers, provides services for latency age children and their families residing in northeastern Massachuestts. The program offers respite care both in the home and in the family's community to children who are experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties and who are at risk of out of home placement. Typically, the caregivers of such children are experiencing significant stress related to their children's special needs, requiring specialized support in order to maintain their children at home. Our goal is to help families remain in their role as the primary care givers for their children. In addition, respite staff work with each family to indentify and access various social, recreational and cultural resources that are available to children and families within each community. Services are provided at varying levels of frequency, intensity and duration depending on individual family need.
