 CT MULTI-SYSTEMIC THERAPY

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Multi-Systemic Therapy Program (MST) is an evidenced based model that provides intensive family based treatment for youth with identified substance abuse issues and/or behavioral challenges. NAFI CT provides MST services statewide to youth who are typically 11-17 years old and remain in the program for 3-5 months. The goal is to strengthen and stabilize the family ecology to prevent out of home placement. The program promotes behavior change in a youth’s natural environment, using the strengths of the individual, family, and extra-familial systems to facilitate positive change. Highly trained therapists work closely with the parents in order to provide skills and support that are sustainable long after they are no longer part of the program. NAFI CT works collaboratively with the model developers to ensure adherence to the model through the use of consultation and review of statistical outcome measures.
